Abstract
Yaqawiyu is a religious ritual that is traditional and very popular among the people of Solo Raya even to Semarang and Yogyakarta. The Yaqawiyu ritual which is carried out in the form of spreading or distributing tens of thousands of apem after prayers are recited by clerics in the month of Sapar in the Javanese calendar in Jatinom Klaten, is full of meaning and even multidimensional. Not only the religious dimension is contained in the Yaqawiyu ritual but also the dimension of traditional culture and modern transformation is in it. This study aims to (1) reveal the multidimensional aspects contained in the Yaqawiyyu ritual and (2) describe the process of revitalizing Yaqawiyyu from religious rituals (rites) related to traditional culture towards modernization transformation. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method with an ethnographic approach. The research data are in the form of words, sentences, and discourses containing information about the multidimensional aspects and revitalization of the Yaqawiyu ritual. The data sources are the place and events of the Yaqawiyu ritual, competent informants, and relevant documents. Data collection was carried out through observation at the Yaqawiyyu implementation site, in-depth interviews with informants, and literature studies. Data analysis was carried out through the interactive model of Miles and Huberman which includes data collection, data presentation, data reduction, and data verification/conclusions carried out in a cycle. The results of the study indicate that (1) the Yaqawiyu ritual contains multidimensional aspects including spiritual, myth, traditional culture, social, education, and economic; (2) Along with the times, the Yaqawiyu ritual has experienced extraordinary dynamics, namely from a religious ritual related to traditional culture to a modern transformation into an apem festival without losing the essence of its meaning.
