Abstract
This study aims to analyse risks that occurred during the production of patchouli-based anti-aging serum using ISO 31000:2018, thus contribute to sustainable production and environmental management. The serum is a research-based product of Atsiri Research Centre (ARC) PUI PT Nilam Aceh Universitas Syiah Kuala and has been commercialized (produced and marketed) by Koperasi Inovasi Nilam Aceh (Inovac) since early 2022. Steps on analyzing and managing the risks consist of 1) risk consultation and communication, 2) risk context determination, 3) risk assessment, 4) risk treatment, and 5) risk monitoring. In the first step, this study obtains 10 risks which occur during the production process. At the second step, the risks are defined into internal and external context. At the third step, the risks are assessed based on qualitative and quantitative risk assessment to minimize risk impact. Based on qualitative risk assessment, there are 2 high risks, 6 moderate risks, and 2 low risks. While on the quantitative risk assessment, this study determined economic lost for one production cycle (100 bottles) as of Rp 1.086.720. This circumstance reflects that if all risks occurred, the lost could reach up to 6% of the total production cost. At the forth step, the result of risks assessment are evaluated based on risk treatment options, in which 2 of the moderate risks and 2 low risks need to be mitigated since the preparation of raw material and equipment, 4 of the moderate risks need to be transferred by communicating the risks to the suppliers, and 2 high risks need to be avoided since it will cause product damage. The overall risk management process provides recommendations to improve production process which are associated to sustainable production such as storage handling for raw material and end product, upgrading production equipment, and supplier management. These recommendations contribute to preventing environmental damage caused by production fail such as the waste of bottle and ejected end product.
