Abstract
One important skincare step is to use a night cream to prevent moisture loss at night and leave skin looking smooth and wrinkle-free. In general, night creams use synthetic active substances that have side effects if used for a long period of time. Replacing active substances with natural ingredients such as essential oils is one way to get around this. Essential oils have several benefits, including anti-acne, anti-aging, anti-wrinkle, and moisturizing. To provide a reference for future research, the use of essential oils in night creams has been the subject of a systematic review. The systematic review method was used to collect information about cosmetic night creams containing essential oils from various literature sources obtained from several research journals that have been published both nationally and internationally. Based on the results of the systematic review, several night cream formulations containing essential oils of rosemary oil, camellia oil, clove oil, geranium oil, citronella oil, rosehip oil, and sandalwood oil were found.
